I’m not dead!

Sorry for my lack of activity the past few weeks. As some might know, I got a full-time job in my field and I’ve been really busy trying to manage my time along with the job, as I am also pet-sitting and freelancing on the side. I finished my first week up last week, however, and I’m loving everything so far, so hopefully my normal internet life will resume rather soon.

As far as my Skyrim critters are going - all are doing great! Been struggling to feed my ADF’s without Paarth eating all their food and bloating himself, so I’m going to have to make some time at night to get a food routine going for Farkas and Vilkas (ADF’s). Any suggestions?

D’awwww

Its fun going into my room when its dark out and seeing them all asleep xD. Paarth in his tree, Viin on the bottom (because his leaf hammock will NOT, for the life of me, suction to the tank), Alduin in his grass, and Odah on a leaf.

Of course, it didn’t take long for Viin to realize the light was on and that I was there. Few seconds later, he was wiggling like crazy at the class. Such a silly boy lol.

Q:Is the New Life Spectrum food sold at pet stores? Online it's $8 plus shipping, yuck. Also, my betta's water has been cloudy, I'm almost positive it's the water conditioner I'm using because it's never been an issue before and I just bought the bottle. I've been using 4-5 drops in a 2.5g. Too much?

a-manderpants

No, New Life Spectrum isn’t sold at PetSmart/Co, unfortunately. Possibly an aquarium specialty store, but I have no idea if we have any of those around here.

I got mine off of Amazon with free two shipping with a trial of Prime. And the price is totally worth it - I won’t have to buy another one for a VERY long time and I have been feeding two bettas, plus rescues since I’ve had it (months now). They definitely give you a lot :)

The water cloudiness could definitely be from a variety of different things, but what kinda of conditioner are you using? Dosage depends on the brand - it will usually tell you how much to add per gallon. I don’t thin 4-5 drops would be too much though. I use Prime, which is highly recommended by aquarists , and I’ve never had cloudy water before. However, ONE cap-full of Prime is for 50 GALLONS of water, so I only need to put in like a drop XD.

Het, hin mahfaeraak lass

Dragonborn translation - here, your forever life. Welcome home, Odahviing.

Meet my new Super Delta dragonscale rescue betta! Moonshadow, from bettafish.com, runs a little rescue like myself and has adopted out tons of bettas into new and loving homes! She posted that this green dragon boy was up for adoption and I just couldn’t say no (especially not to a dragon).

He arrived today and I couldn’t be more happy! In her pictures, he was a forest green. However, his colors totally change! He was a green when I took him out of his packaging, but then an aqua blue when the light hit him in a certain direction. Stunning boy! Excuse his torn fins - he is apparently a tail biter and looks as though he was recovering from fin rot.

He is being housed in the 5.5 gallon tank I had my ADF’s in. I got the okay from the forums to move the frogs into Paarthurnax’s tank to make room for the new betta and so far, so good!

People often wonder what I feed my bettas, or want to know what they should feed their own bettas. So I took a picture for you!
I like to think of my betta knowledge as above the average betta keeper, but I never knew a good food was so important to their well-being. A good food brightens up their colors, provides them with the proper protein and vitamins, and makes them active and healthy!
Originally, I had been feeding Paarthurnax the crappy Aquaeon betta food the big pet stores sell right out front with the bettas. After gathering a few opinions from the forums and betta enthusiasts, I was told New Life Spectrum makes the best quality food for any fish (I was also recommend NLS for my goldie rescues when I had them). Its first ingredients are whole meats such as krill, herring, and other types of fish - not wheat, like most commercial brands. So far, it has done wonders for my bettas and I’ve never seen them so excited to eat.
The Omega-One tropical fish flakes are for Alduin, who cannot eat pellets because of his equilibrium issue. If he attempts to eat a pellet, he usually misses, the pellet ends up sinking, and he doesn’t retrieve them. With flakes, they cover more of the surface area and they’re an easier target for him. Omega-One is also a very good food that has whole meat/fish as its first ingredient.
As for the stuff in the cubes - those are frozen blood worms. Bettas LOVE bloodworms, but they should only be given one or two times a week. Stay away from freeze-dried blood worms, as they can cause bloating in your betta.
